Decorative processes

Take advantage of Flex’s decorative surface capabilities that enhance plastics molding with numerous secondary processes such as double shooting, insert molding, over molding, IML (in-mold labelling), IMD (in-mold decoration) and gas-assisted processes. Flex has built over 3,800 complex molds, and our experience includes high quality products from resin compounds like ABS, PVC, PCABS, HIPS, PC, PA, POM, PBT, PP, TPE and TPU. Flex develops and runs patented processes like FSKP (Flextronics Seamless Knit less Process), which gives us the opportunity to run high gloss finish plastic parts that won’t require a secondary painting operation.

Tool design and production

Design and produce any kind of plastic molding tool across all manufacturing technologies and materials, and leverage Flex’s design for manufacturing capabilities to optimize part design for tool setup and molding processes. You can leverage Flex’s in-house tooling capacity that supports more than 350 tools per month with a global workforce of more than 1,000 employees across four international sites. Flex delivers design-for-manufacture and mold flow capabilities supported by roughly 1,200 CNC machines with in-house test and metrology laboratories.

Machining

Whether your machining needs are simple or complex, Flex has you covered with hundreds of CNC precision machine tools, including CNC horizontal machining centers integrated with FMS's (Flexible Manufacturing Systems) 5-axis milling and CNC turning capabilities. Outsource your integration requirements to Flex as your single supplier.

Stamping and metal forming

Reduce extra costs associated with doing business in multiple locations with metal fabrication and mechanical assembly at Flex facilities. Our metal fab facilities are a one-stop shop that can take manufactured goods from a flat sheet of metal to a painted end-user product. For low to medium volumes, Flex offers soft tooling, or laser with no tooling for NPI/prototype.

Molding

Go beyond standard injection molding products at Flex’s 15 fully integrated plastics sites around the globe. Take advantage of innovative processes such as rapid heat cool molding, which enables the production of high-gloss-finish plastic parts that don’t require any secondary painting operation. Flex’s infrastructure includes over 1500 molding machine presses available from 20 to 2,000 tons and automated auxiliary equipment including resin dryers, mold temperature controllers, chillers, part-removal robots, conveyors and colorant blenders.

Subassembly and final assembly

Increase efficiency of physically joining individual pieces with seamless assembly processes such as MIG, TIG and stick welding, spot and tack welding, multi-head tapping, orbital riveting, ultrasonic, clinching and robotic welding and more.
